#OmbligoYourE-waste:
A Call-to-Action Movement by Businessmen
Fighting For a Better World
Client: Ombligo
Team Members: Camila Quintero, Violeta del Carril, and Lauren Stathphaulos
Project Overview: Ombligo, an IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) company based in Brooklyn, is struggling to find customers to adopt their services, because CSR and IT departments inside companies are not educated or informed enough about the impact of ITAD related to sustainability nor the services that our client could provide them with. Our goal for this project was to find a solution through a design thinking approach that would effectively engage CSR professionals and executives rather than our client having to target them individually. #OmbligoYourE-waste serves the purpose of creating a community and spreading the word.
Outcome:
Our solution was to create a Call to action movement to engage, educate, inspire and activate IT and CSR executives to act for e-waste and recycling. We chose to focus on an art installation performance, which will work as a conversation starter, eye catching and thought provoking simulation, to create shock. The art installation will be made of compiled Recycled IT Equipment, and to begin the performance there will be a group of dancers dressed as business professionals carrying briefcases with the company’s logo putting on a performance. Our goal for this was to create a viral commotion that will eventually lead to a discussion through Social Media (through a giveaway hashtags, posts, and stories) and draw more attention to stakeholders in companies and involuntarily forcing CSR departments to talk about the issue they create within their businesses and how they can close the loop with Ombligo.
